Where to look for HP recovery in Vampire Crawlers
Healing in Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors is a lot stranger than you’d expect. In the early game, it’s all about discovering hidden roast chickens inside breakable torches (there must be some fascinating lore behind that), but eventually, you’ll move on to unlockable cards that require an unlockable character, as well as special gems and evolutions. No, restoring HP isn’t straightforward, but it’ll become easier once you know where to look.
Here’s how to heal in Vampire Crawlers.
How to restore HP in Vampire Crawlers
Beware that the only healing method in Vampire Crawlers‘ (very) early game is to find chickens in torches. Bump into a torch to break it, then touch the chicken to consume it and recover 10 HP. Beware that torches will look a bit different depending on the level. As shown below, the Mad Forest has pillars, while the Inlaid Library has candelabras.
Most torches, however, only offer coins instead of chickens, so you must be quite lucky to find them. Soon enough, you can unlock more reliable healing methods like the Pummarola cards. Here’s an overview of all healing methods in Vampire Crawlers:
- Destroy torches for the chance to find an HP-restoring chicken. Torches spawn randomly along the path. If you find a chicken while at full health, it’s best to leave it for later.
- Upgrade Recovery at the Village Shop (available between runs). You will heal 1 HP per rank following an encounter.
- Unlock Pummarola cards. They will replenish your health after an encounter (when the battle ends). To obtain these cards, clear the Mad Forest and purchase Gennaro Belpaese for 550 coins at the Inn. Reach level 10 with Gennaro, and you’ll get Pummarola cards.
- Evolve cards. Bloody Tear, which evolves from the Whip and Hollow Heart, heals 3 HP after a critical hit.
- Find Gems with healing effects. Drain, for example, heals the player if the card destroys an enemy.
