Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is getting its next major update on Monday, April 27. It will add a new Lucario-centric booster pack, Pulsing Aura, to the card-collecting game, alongside a revamped mission structure and gold card frames.
The standard monthly update has a bit of extra intrigue to it this time around. Earlier this month, the developers behind the hit Pokémon mobile game revealed that it would be undergoing a small revamp by discontinuing Dex Missions and Emblem Tickets. We now have a taste of what will fill in those gaps going forward thanks to some newly announced in-game events.
Pulsing Aura is built around Mega Lucario ex, but it’s bringing a few other valuable cards to the mix. Mega Sceptile ex is coming to the game with Terminating Tail, a 130-damage move that leaves opponents poisoned. Emboar, Bewear, Bisharp, and more are getting new cards too. Also notable is Field Blower, a new item card that can discard an active Stadium.
The update will bring more than just new cards. Players will now be able to obtain gold frames by collecting 10 copies of the same card or consuming duplicate cards via the Obtain Flair feature. Gold frames will be handed out retroactively too, so if you already have 10 of the same card, you’ll get the golden version when the update lands. You’ll be able to trade gold cards, too.
The usual monthly events are coming, including a Mega Heracross ex drop event, but the update will add some new long-tailed missions. Elite Deck Gift Missions will allow you to obtain Mega Charizard Y ex and Moltres ex decks by completing missions. Handy Card Collection Missions will let you earn Trainer cards, including May and Cyrus. Both events will run from late April to late July, making them longer than your average Pokémon TCG Pocket event.
The game will also celebrate its 1.5-year anniversary with a special event that will allow players to earn cards and accessories through missions and solo battles. The crown jewel card of that event is Zygarde ex.
The Pulsing Aura update is coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket on Monday, April 27, at 6 p.m. PDT.
