Epic Games is only giving away one new free PC game this week, and Metroidvania fans looking for the next adventure will want to snag it. For the next week, you can get Doomblade for free from the Epic Games Store.

But if you’ve played all the recent heavy hitters, Epic is giving away a great 2023 Metroidvania. Doomblade finds you playing as Gloom Girl, who comes across the sentient Doomblade. (And who doesn’t love a sentient sword?) The Doomblade was held captive for eons, and is now hellbent on revenge against those who bound it, the Dread Lords.
It’s a stylish and action-focused Metroidvania. You work towards regaining the Doomblade’s lost powers (a genre staple) on the way to taking down the Dread Lords. Critics enjoyed Doomblade, and it holds a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with over 270 reviews.
