Control is one of the strangest and most enthralling narrative and gameplay experiences of all time, and best of all, you can now play it on your iPhone and iPad, thanks to developer Remedy Entertainment’s stealth release of Control Ultimate Edition on the Apple App Store.
In a post on X, Remedy Entertainment revealed that the new edition of Control was built “specifically for mobile.” This build was designed to include touch controls, and the interface has been reworked to look great on smaller screens without sacrificing the intense visuals of the original game.
Control originally debuted in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, and follows protagonist Jesse Faden as she looks for her missing brother, Dylan. The search leads her to the Oldest House, a brutalist building that serves as the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control, a secret U.S. government agency that investigates and secures supernatural phenomena that defy reality. Once inside, Jesse must use both her paranormal abilities and a shapeshifting gun to survive the hostile entity that has corrupted the building.
One of the hallmarks of Control is its atmospheric visuals. Whether you’re fighting enemies or flying through the air, Control is bound to look amazing. Previous reviews of Control Ultimate Edition reported issues with ray tracing, leading to stutters and rendering errors, but it’s currently unclear whether those issues remain for iPhone and iPad.
Control Ultimate Edition is available to play now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, Mac, and now iPad and iPhone.
