Mega Darkrai, Zeraora, Chandelure, and Excadrill ex are coming
The next Pokémon trading card game expansion has been revealed by The Pokémon Company on Thursday, and it features a host of Mega evolutions first seen in the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC.
Scheduled for release worldwide on Friday, July 17, Mega Evolution—Pitch Black will introduce the following four ex cards:
- Mega Darkrai ex
- Mega Zeraora ex
- Mega Chandelure ex
- Mega Excadrill ex
“Trainers can discover new cards, including Mega Darkrai ex, which emerges from the shadows with commanding presence, and Mega Zeraora ex, which strikes back with electrifying power,” reads the official media alert. “The expansion also features Mega Chandelure ex and Mega Excadrill ex, each bringing dynamic strategies and powerful battles to the forefront.”
Additionally, the set will include:
- Six Mega evolution Pokémon ex
- 11 illustration rare Pokémon
- 18 ultra rare Pokémon and trainer cards
- Six special illustration rare Pokémon and supporter cards
We don’t have images of any card art yet, but this does appear to directly mirror the Abyss Eye set, which is exclusive to Japan. As a result, expect the following cards to also be included:
- Slowpoke
- Slowbro
- Drilbur
- Inkay
- Malamar
- Nickit
- Thievul
- Zarude
- Chi-Yu
- Dark Bell (trainer)
- Shadow Energy (energy)
Mega Evolution—Pitch Black will be available in booster packs, elite trainer boxes, and “various collections.” The expansion will also join Pokémon TCG Live on Thursday, July 16.
